Description

Orion Communications has an immediate opening for a Deployment Project Engineer. The person in this position will report to the Orion Customer Services Director and perform the following roles:

• Provide the primary coordination for Orion deployments to client customers for Orion Products and Services.
• Coordinate and document project management activities using Orion Project Management Tools.
• Create enhancements and new policies to improve Orion's Project Management Polices and Procedures.
• Provide detailed information to operations regarding customer requirements, issues, and roll-out procedures.
• Drive definition and closure of project requirements, project plans/schedules, and resource needs.
• Actively manage program risk, provide consistent program status and progress against objectives at all levels within the corporation.
• Coordinate Change Order Management for Customer Requests.
• Participate in testing and quality control of applications.
• Assist development team in field definition mapping for coding integration packages, reports, or minor bug fixes / enhancements.

The day-to-day work environment for this position includes working with Senior Engineers and experienced team members to design, development, test and implement Orion products. The person in this position will be working in a web environment using Microsoft .Net technology.

Orion's development tools include a vast array of technologies including: T-SQL (Microsoft SQL 2005, 2008), Visual Basic .NET (v1.1, v2.0, v3.5 framework), HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, IIS, and Web Services.

• Very strong knowledge of web technology and web-based application
• Knowledgeable of software lifecycle
• Ability to create ERM Diagrams, Process flows, data mapping documents, version update standards and processes
• Ability to create formal test plans for internal and external usage.
• Strong technical documentation skills (use of excel, word, and Visio)
• Experience in using Sharepoint for Project Management
• Previous work with government agencies a plus
• Previous work with Law Enforcement RMS or CAD systems a plus
• Previous software testing experience a plus

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in relevant technical discipline or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
• At least four years of software project management experience in large deployments of web products.
• PMP Certification a plus but not required.
• Qualified candidate must have 4 years experience with either Software Development or Deployment Project Management.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple projects within the established scope and timeline.
• Requires complex problem solving abilities with experience in performing root cause analysis.

• ASP.NET, MS SQL 2000+, SSIS, SSRS, Javascript, HTML, XML, AJAX, MS VSS, Web Services, SOAP
• Windows IIS Administration Experience and knowledge

• Windows networking experience and knowledge
• SQL Sever administration experience and knowledge
