The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program (JAG) allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system. Funds can be used for technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice including for any one or more of the following program areas such as law enforcement, prosecution and courts, and technology improvement programs.
The COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP)provides funding directly to law enforcement agencies having primary law enforcement authority to create and preserve jobs and to increase their community policing capacity and crime-prevention efforts. Approximately 5,500 additional sworn law enforcement officers will be added to agencies across the country through funding provided by this program.
The COPS Tribal Resources Grant Program (TRGP) provides a variety of funding options including officer background investigations, law enforcement training, uniforms, basic issue equipment, department-wide technology, and vehicles for officers. The program's aim is to enhance tribal law enforcement infrastructure and community policing efforts. This program is open to all Federally Recognized Tribes with established police departments.
