For most students, going off to college marks an exciting new chapter in their young lives. But are campuses ensuring their safety?
Studies show that as many as one-fifth of all female college students experience stalking at some point during their college career. Though a smaller percentage of men also report similar incidents, women seem to face the brunt of them, whether they are dealing with a disgruntled ex or a complete stranger. Unfortunately, many of these incidents go unreported.Given that college students live in close quarters and are often near major cities, it falls to campus police to keep them safe. One strategy would be for police to conduct student outreach programs so they feel safe enough to come forward. This is where workforce management technology can help to ensure that police personnel are qualified and scheduled to facilitate these types of initiatives.
