Recent school shootings in the United States have made parents, teachers and policymakers extra wary about the safety of students. But while many school districts have opted to boost security, some have struggled with a lack of staff.A survey conducted by Campus Safety Magazine found that two-thirds of salaried professionals in K-12 schools believe that they don't have enough public safety officers to meet staffing needs. One challenge schools face is that salaries and benefits for sworn officers are rising, putting a strain on tight public budgets.
One way campuses could balance their safety needs with budget limitations is to reduce overtime spending. With the help of workforce management software more efficient schedules could be generated that maximize existing resources. With the use of mobile apps, personnel could receive assignments quickly and easily.
Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more updates how technology can be used to improve the management of the public safety workforce.
