Dallas, TX (March 25, 2014) — Orion Communications, Inc., a leader in workforce management software, today announced the release of its AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling solution. The new software is designed to assist courts with the often difficult task of efficiently scheduling court dockets and coordinating law enforcement witnesses. AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling is an augmented solution that can be easily added to existing case management systems.

“With our AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling system, we’re able to automate judicial rules about what case type is heard in what court, on what day, and at what time of day,” states Orion Communications President, Leslie DeLatte. “We are then able to provide officer’s schedules so that cases can be assigned more efficiently. And with our AgencyWeb® IWM software, we’re able to notify officers about all their court events. It’s a true end-to-end solution.”

The process of assigning a court date for a particular case is often manual and open-ended, with cases being rescheduled numerous times. Orion’s AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling software can streamline this process and minimize uncertainty. For judges, this means producing pre-trial dockets listing each day’s scheduled events. The solution coordinates the number of cases that will be heard each day and sets a maximum level. It can also overbook if necessary, taking into account the fact that some cases will proceed more quickly than expected.

AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling will not only make scheduling easier for courthouses and their staff members, but will also serve the needs of those testifying. For example, police officers who must appear in court to face those who challenge their traffic violations will be able to do so according to a more consistent schedule. Since they can write large volumes of tickets daily, it is important for an officer’s legal appearances to be consolidated. Otherwise, they would be spending more time in court rather than on the streets protecting citizens.

In addition to helping Municipal case management, AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling is also designed to support Criminal case management for Magistrate Court processing. Orion expects the software to soon go live in the New Orleans Magistrate Court, where it will ensure that scheduling rules are being followed in pre-trial criminal cases. Managing court dockets in coordination with a defendant’s speedy trial rights and the Prosecutor’s case filing can be a juggling act for Court Clerks who don’t have a computer solution at their fingertips. By coordinating the events necessary for court, the system will provide the best case dates based on officers’ existing court schedules and other conflicting events.

“Orion has been delivering its AgencyWeb® CourtNotify subpoena software since 2003,” states Jackie Belaksy, Director of Sales and Marketing at Orion Communications. “With AgencyWeb® Court Scheduling, we’re once again able to serve judicial and public safety agencies by providing a solution that combines the court’s scheduling requirements with law enforcement witness’s actual schedules. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
